The Bachelor program in Doctor of Dental Surgery at Prince of Songkla University is designed based on progressivism principles that focus on the holistic development of students. This approach aims to equip students with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. The curriculum emphasizes student-centered learning, blended learning that incorporates problem-based and research-based learning, simulations, and hands-on training to provide practical experience. The program also develops students’ important skills for the 21st century, including communication skills, searching and analyzing data, using information technology, seeking new knowledge, thinking logically and creatively, collaborating effectively, being responsible for themselves and society, and considering the benefits of mankind. The ultimate goal is to produce dentists with knowledge, morals and ethics according to professional standards, able to integrate knowledge and have professional skills and other related sciences to provide comprehensive oral healthcare, prevention, and promotion.
PLO1 Communicate effectively and select appropriate technology for communication.
- PLO 1.1 Communicate effectively in both Thai and English, using both verbal and nonverbal language, with a clear purpose, considering the needs and cultural diversity of individuals.
- PLO 1.2 Effectively use digital technology for communication and presentation.
PLO2 Examine and conduct a comprehensive medical and dental assessment of patients, establish a diagnosis, and develop a holistic dental treatment plan.
- PLO 2.1 Apply knowledge of health sciences, medical sciences, and dental sciences to accurately examine and assess patients according to professional standards.
- PLO 2.2 Obtain a patient history, conduct a physical examination, and select appropriate laboratory, radiographic, and other diagnostic tests, considering the cost-effectiveness and relevance to the patient’s condition, and accurately interpret the results of these tests.
- PLO 2.3 Assess patients’ medical, dental, social, and economic conditions to inform diagnosis and treatment planning.
- PLO 2.4 Diagnose and plan treatment for oral and maxillofacial diseases; soft and hard tissue abnormalities in the oral cavity; non-complex disorders of the maxillofacial bones; occlusion and mastication; infections and hazards in the oral cavity, teeth, and maxillofacial bones, following a holistic approach to patient care.
PLO 3 Provide comprehensive dental care in accordance with dental standards and ethics.
- PLO 3.1 Provide comprehensive dental treatment and oral rehabilitation following a holistic and systematic approach to patient care, in accordance with professional standards and employing proper ergonomic techniques.
- PLO 3.2 Manage the behavior and address pain, stress, and anxiety in both pediatric and adult patients.
- PLO 3.3 Manage dental complications and emergencies, including basic life support according to current guidelines.
- PLO 3.4 Use medications appropriately and manage potential side effects.
- PLO 3.5 Provide post-treatment care including patient counseling, referrals, and follow-up evaluations.
PLO 4 Promote oral health and prevent oral diseases at the individual, family, and community levels using a holistic health approach and interprofessional collaboration.
- PLO 4.1 Promote oral health and prevent oral diseases at the individual and family levels using a holistic health approach, both independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
- PLO 4.2 Assess the oral health status of a community, plan oral health promotion and disease prevention strategies, taking into account cultural differences, environmental factors, and the healthcare system, in collaboration with interprofessional teams.
PLO 5 Apply scientific, research, and innovative processes to analyze and solve problems in accordance with the situation, and continuously develop oneself.
- PLO 5.1 Conduct research, explore, and keep up with the latest advancements from various sources, using information technology appropriately.
- PLO 5.2 Analyze and assess environmental situations and apply them to problem-solving using evidence-based principles.

PLO 6 Manage and develop the quality of organizational work in collaboration with colleagues within and across units to achieve organizational goals.

Round 1/2: Project for selecting students with High-Achieving and International Students for the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program Number of students accepted: 5. | 1. Group of students currently studying in the sixth year of secondary school (Matthayom 6) in the general stream nationwide: 1.1. Have a GPAX (Grade Point Average) for 5 semesters (Matthayom 4 to 6) of not less than 3.50. 1.2. Have a GPA for 5 semesters (Matthayom 4 to 6) with the number of credit units in various subject groups as follows: 1.2.1. Science and Technology: Not less than 3.50 (at least 20 credits). 1.3. Have TGAT test results (Code 90) for the academic year 2566 BE (2023/2024). 2. Group of international school students: 2.1. Students currently studying or graduated from an international school, U.S. Grade 12, U.K. Year 13, or NCEA Level 2 (New Zealand system), from international schools both inside and outside the country, with certification evidence for equivalency of educational qualifications from the Council of University Presidents of Thailand Association (CUPT). Note: In cases where applicants have qualifications differing from those specified, they are subject to the discretion of the committee. 2.2. Have one of the academic ability test scores as follows:

1.1 ) In accordance with Prince of Songkla University’s regulations for undergraduate studies and lifelong education, 2563 B.E., students must complete the required number of credits as specified in the program and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on an 8-point scale.
