🏛️ Background of the Research Unit
Established in 1983, the Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University, has been committed to producing highly qualified dental graduates who meet the healthcare needs of Thailand, particularly in the southern region. Alongside education, research and innovation have become fundamental missions of the Faculty in addressing oral health challenges and improving the quality of life of the population.
Over the years, the Faculty’s researchers, academic staff, and supporting personnel have generated significant research outcomes, including internationally recognized publications, patents, petty patents, and community-based innovations. Supported by strong expertise, advanced research facilities, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Faculty is well equipped to provide comprehensive oral health research across all age groups.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable research development and multidisciplinary collaboration, the Faculty established the Center of Excellence for Oral Health Research. The Center serves as a platform to promote innovative research, strengthen collaborations among researchers, support early-career investigators through mentorship, and facilitate access to national and international research funding. Equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and research infrastructure, the Center also collaborates with industrial partners to translate research outcomes into innovative oral health products that deliver tangible benefits to society.
